Now That's Serious Business
Puerto Rico's vast array of resorts, hotels, inns and guesthouses offer business travelers and groups plenty of options for staying within a budget, while its more than 1.2 million square feet of conference and meeting space can accommodate groups of nearly any size. Options range from intimate boardrooms to the Caribbean's largest ballroom. The island's sleek new Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan has well over a million square feet of meeting space. The 580,000-square-foot facility, which is the largest and most sophisticated of its kind in Latin America, includes a 153,000-square-foot exhibition center and 40,000 square feet of ballroom space. Construction is also well under way on the second phase of the 113-acre, cutting-edge waterfront development, which will include a 500-room Starwood Hotel & Resort under its Sheraton banner, a casino, retail shops, restaurants, movie theaters, a museum and many other amenities. The Puerto Rico Convention Bureau, as the sales and marketing agent for the Convention Center, is in charge of bookings for the facility.
